an is not totally free. The choice is there but on his own he cannot choose God. Its like man is playing in a maze where all paths lead to destruction. Unless God by His sovereign will intervenes, purposing man to be saved and by His grace drives him to seek His son, there can be no hope. All hath fallen and strayed and no one seeketh God on his own. The sin corrupted every aspect of man that he cannot save himself nor follow God on his own free choice. He might have chosen God but that was because of the Spirit’s empowerment. He might have seen the Truth but it is only because God hath applied waking balm on his eyes. If not and all is left to chance, then what is there for us? If God merely encourages no matter how powerful, chance is still the outcome. Our God is not a god of chance or accidents. What He wills happen exactly as it is.
If man is totally free and nature has not totally been affected and corrupted by sin, then he has the potential to choose God on his own and follow his laws 100%. The need for a Savior will no longer be a need and God can just live man to the chance of following His law for salvation. But man is totally depraved. No one teaches a child to be selfish. He is born selfish. No one teaches a child to be violent when his wants are not given. Man is born as such. If his desire is not satisfied, he will flail is arms in madness to get what he wants. The fact that no man has overcomed sin by the law tells us that we are totally unable to do so! And the Bible, the Words of God above all of man’s words, says so!
All have turned away, no one seeketh God. For indeed, by the sin of Adam, man fell out of balanced with nothing left for Him but judgment. Apart from the grace of the Lord Jesus through His stunning work of penal substitution, there can be no salvation, redemption or regeneration for us. No hope for us but the waiting furnaces of hell.
It is God who sovereignly purposes man to be saved. His Word is His way of penetrating man’s nature and driving him to seek His Son. If man is totally free, not subjected to God’s inspiration or sovereign grace, then man is therefore left to chance. And if man is therefore left to chance where God is hoping that man would turn, what then has God become? He has become dependent of man and His sovereign will can never be accomplished. For man is the farthest thing from God.
Again if man is totally free, where God respects His decision and therefore leaves man to his conclusion, then arminians must consider the fact that there could be errors in Scripture. Why? Since man is totally free and untouchable, there can be a good chance that he would mess the writings for such Scriptures where written by man. But No! The Scripture is free from error. God hath not manipulated man like an unconscious puppet, rather, He hath “ridden” him. The Master has the right to ride on His creations. And whenever He pulls the latch, man will be restrained. When He lets go, man will probably fall. We are therefore under His mercy and grace, freely given, neither earned nor toiled for.
To add more to the torment of the reader, if man is totally free, then the possibility (if not an actual fact) of man neglecting the Cross is there and the Lamb would have died in vain. Or worse, no one could have understood the work of salvation. The potential that Jesus’ suffering will be ignored if all is left to chance and God simply lets man alone decide. And if man alone indeed decides, then there is in fact no chance at all. And even if he makes a decision, then is not God left at the mercy of man? Hath not God become dependent on man’s will? No my friend. God is sovereign.
If God is a mere voice, then He has no power or any evidence of sovereignty left in Him. And if so, then is He not just a very strong whisper but nevertheless still a whisper? No, God is not a very strong whisper. God acts on man, transforms man, may let man go but will still gain access to man’s heart. God can restrain, constrain, harden or stupefy anyone He pleases. If only this is understood and accepted by every believer, no one would boast that by his decision he got saved. And also, if fully submitted to the Truth, every believer would believe that He is under the grace and mercy of the Lord. And when he fails, He will not blame God for He knows that God just let go and so He stumbled and fell. Still, I cannot declare who would understand the Truth. To make the Truth available is as far as man can go. It is only the sovereign God who can imbue the truth in one’s heart. If man would fully accept this, he would go beyond lengths of humility. But then man can’t unless God purposed to do so. So its all up to His grace really. Still we must make ourselves available or at least be wholly transformed by the Spirit, as apostle Paul says. The Spirit in us not only empowers us or enables us but if necessary, would break our will without eliminating consciousness to protect us from the danger that we pose to ourselves. The Spirit is not just a powerful voice. And if there is Spirit at all, the doctrine of perseverance of saints now becomes fallible.
If man fully submits to Thy grace Father and fully understand his incapability to decide or work on his own or by his own personal means, then humility will no longer be a problem. And when success comes, there will be no pride. And when failure comes, he would easily run back to You, dear Father, for he knows that He has strayed and you have let him go.
God is not to be mocked. God needs no one and depends on no one. And if God grants mercy to those whom He please, is He unfair? NO! Says Apostle Paul. Praise God that the Lord hath clearly made this clear through driving His conscious servant Paul. And Scripture says, that even though God favors men even before they were born as He did with Esau and Jacob, and though He loved Jacob, who frequently cheated, WE CANNOT QUESTION HIM. As said by Paul, though God grants mercy to those He wants to, a pot can never ask His Master, why did you make me like this? Or why did you chose this? God elects not by man’s merit, as if man had merit on the first place. Rather He elects freely on His own.
Now, if election is true and man has a limited will (such will is not enough to choose God or save himself) then why does God not choose all? As Jesus hath said, God reveals Himself to those whom hath been destined to even before creation. Still, why does not God choose all? Surely heaven is not crowded? I do not know to. I don’t even know His exact basis for choosing people. I do not know why He made the pharoah’s heart stubborn and instead filled Him with goodness. He exercise His control and sovereign grace to keep the world in check and at the same time show His glory. Still I cannot tell why He chose Jacob over Esau, even before they were born. Perhaps it is to merely show His authority? I do not really know. And if I give reasons that are mere speculations, I would blaspheme His Name. No one knows really. Apart from His great revelation in Scripture, God’s preference or the exact basis of His decisions are all a mystery. All I know is that He purposed me to be saved and so I was destined to. Then He purchased me and so I was bought. Then He transformed me and so I was changed. I was saved purely by grace not by any merit or condition that I possess. And I tell you, He drew me to Himself. My words might have declared that He is Lord but He is behind all the strings. Not of course controlling me like an unconscious puppet by exercising His sovereign will over man. This is why Scripture is free from error and that Jesus’ work of salvation cannot be neglected and left to chance if men would accept or not.
He purposely saved us and no one in this world can stop His will. His will shall be done exactly as He says so. No accidents happen. Even the sparrow cannot fall to the ground unless God wills it! And we are worth much more th
an sparrows! Man cannot doom his plans or somehow stop His will from happening. God makes a way and if necessary, like He did with the Egyptian pharaoh, He would act and exercise such sovereign will to show His glory.

Only till a saint of God understands the doctrines of Grace, will he be able to truly appreciate the sweetness of this Gospel.T_T
