any of us have journeyed to and fro in this Christian experience. Since the beginning of our Christian lives we have sought the sweet milk of the Word of God, dancing around in praise of God in the indwelling of His Spirit. As genuine as the salvation experience is, I find it natural that all men and women, each and everyone of God’s elect would inherently (since the moment of salvation) seek for the genuine Truth of their Savior, to be able to know the fullness of his God. Sadly, this isn’t the case. For some reason it goes about differently in churches. Why is it? I just couldn’t bring myself to fully understand the roots of this abounding apathy and indifference in the church, being content to what is fed to them, being satisfied with “experiencing God”, going in and out of discipleship meetings, serving God and whatnot but still not having that unquenchable desire to KNOW GOD. I’m not talking about knowing the promises of God, but knowing God, knowing who He is, His attributes, everything about He who is creator of the foundations of the Universe.
I just cannot bring myself to understand the reasons to why people don’t involve themselves in this privilege? Do people think of themselves so highly as to act that they don’t need to know much more? Maybe that the “experience” is enough for them? That maybe they think to themselves that they’ve already fulfilled this duty by reading the Bible 1 or 2 hours a day. You know what I mean, IT IS A GREAT PRIVILEGE! To know God! To know Him in the fellowship of His suffering and the power of His resurrection. A great privilege it is to be given the chance to seek and see, listen and hear the great truths of God! It isn’t a duty. It isn’t an obligation. It is a desire! A desire that every believer, each of the elect of the Sovereign God must have! Do you not see the great privilege that lies herein? What is more amazing and marvelous is the fact that God, the Lord of Glory chose YOU/me, insignificant beings, unworthy of anything, deserving only of wrath, despicable and destitute… He chose people like us to reveal His Glory to!
Is that not amazing?
Does the idea of really knowing God not excite you?
Well it does so to me. An unexplainable feeling of endless emptiness that desires for the continuous pouring of the indwelling of the Spirit of the Lord, never ending, never ceasing, never decreasing, always always increasing. Do you understand that feeling? A feeling that you can only do so much to suppress until you’re full to the brim and cry out with a loud voice, “I want to know you more my Lord! And this thing of Yourself that You chose to reveal to me… Oh, Lord I want to share it! I want to preach it! I want to preach it that You may be known as You are! Give me an opportunity to preach! Give me a chance to preach! All I want to do is preach!”
Let us seek God my friend. Let us study His Word. Let us commit ourselves in this marvelous journey of discovery of the depths of the one who is God.
