I ran to this video the other day as I went through my YouTube subscriptions. It was a video excerpt from Dr. John Piper. The title of it was: “No, Mr. President: John Piper’s Response to President Obama on Abortion.” I’ve never heard a message as short as this one that is so full of weight and seriousness. It is my fear and terror that what Voddie Baucham Jr. said is true, our generation despises children. It is not anymore the gift of life, a grace from God, but a curse upon the eyes of many men and women.

“Mr. President, some of us wept for Joy at your inauguration!

And we pledge that we will pray for you.

We have hope in our Sovereign God.”

As a balance in this let it be known that abortion, as serious as it is a sin even in the eyes of men, should not overshadow the rest of the evil, deceit and corruption the human heart spews forth, it’s lusts, it’s lies, it’s idolatry and practical Atheism, for all these things are gravely, gravely serious as well in the eyes of God. The fundamental issue here  in abortion is not the loss of life itself, rather, like all sin, it is a conscious act of destruction and rebellion against what God has deemed good! An act of war against the Holy of holies!

W. Bingham Hunter said it right concerning our sin and specific lusts, not just abortion, not just the homosexual lifestyle, not just living idolatrous lives and the consent for vain living, but sin for the evil of itself, he said,

“It is little wonder sin grieves the Holy Spirit who lives in us (Eph 5:30).”

Yet the greater and more astounding wonder is that sin grieves us so little.

May God help us to see unholiness for what it is (give us “salve to put on [our] eyes, so that [we] can see,” Rev 3:18) and see that sin makes us “pitiful, poor, blind and naked” (Rev 3:17).”

Let us see all sin equally evil as we see the dread of abortion. O, for the loss and destruction of lives! Should we grieve any less for the abomination we become in the compromise for our specific lusts and sins?! You feel grieved for the loss of life? How little compared to that is your pain and sorrow with your sins against God!
