C. H. Spurgeon : Download Sermon here
And as it was of God in the planning, and of God in the purchasing, so it is all of God in the applying and bringing of it home to each individual conscience. The cross of Christ is not put up there merely for every man to look at, and then left to chance as to whether men will look or no. There stands the cross free to every soul that lives, but, nevertheless, God has determined that it shall not be neglected. There is a number that no man can number, who shall by all-constraining grace be brought to clasp that cross as the hope of their souls. Jesus shall not die in vain, and that because God will make men willing in the day of his power. They are hardened; he can break their hearts: they are stubborn; he can bend their knees; they will not come; but he can make them come. He hath a key that can wind up the human heart, and make it run at his pleasure. Think not that man is an independent being, so free that God cannot control him; that were to make man God, deify humanity, and undeify the Godhead. Man is free to be responsible, but he is not free from a perpetual bias and inclination to evil. But man is subject to the restraint or the constraint of God. If he doeth right, then it is God’s constraint, and not his free-will. When he doeth wrong, God hath left him to himself; but as sure as ever he doeth good, it is because a Master-hand hath got him now. Man by nature is as a wild horse dashing yonder to the precipice; if he be restrained in his course and turn thitherward away from danger, it is because he hath a mighty rider, and one that knows how to pull the bit and guide him as be pleases; and though he kick and plunge, and long to turn away, his rider can pull him up upon his very haunches, and turn him round, and make him go as He wills, and lead him as He pleases. In this matter is it true that all the bringing home of the gospel to the soul of man is of God.

Wow! love the analogy of the horse and the rider hmmm.. I'm gonna use it.."The cross of Christ is not put up there merely for every man to look at, and then left to chance as to whether men will look or no. There stands the cross free to every soul that lives, but, nevertheless, God has determined that it shall not be neglected."This is why it is impossible to believe that man is totally free. If man really is free and can only be "encouraged" but not "driven", then the arminian must consider that there is a high possiblity (if not total) of the negligence of the Cross and Christ would have died in vain; His suffering would be futile and what's worse is, no one would even have understood His work! God freely exercises His sovereign grace to maintain the "checks and balances" in His creations (not even a sparrow falls without God knowing or purposing! and we are worth much more than sparrows!). However, it does not mean that He has turn man into a puppet, rather He has "riden" man. If He desires to let go, man would fall. If He desires to pull, man would be restrained and corrected.Oh! How wonderful that His grace keeps us safe!
I just love it! Oh, the joy to hear such things! Hearing and reading the great worth of the Cross and it's power!Rightly so bes! God does not simply "PROpose" men to be saved, He "PURPOSES" them to be saved! I find it really aggravating to think how men have such a low, blasphemous view of our God. How pitiful is the god of this age! A god with neither will nor power! A god who can only ask, but never command! A god who can only plead, but never obligate! A god who can only beg, but never demand! A god who can only wish and never do anything! Isn't this similar to the god that the greeks worship? The gods of mythology created by the imaginations of men! But no, it must not be this way, as Elijah proclaimed, "If Baal is god then worship him! But if Jehovah YHWH is God then worship Him!" Don't be worshiping an idol, worship the God of Scripture! It is either that or the other.Rawr! (I could've written a blogpost.haha)
Another reason why people find it hard to believe to sovereign grace of God is that they think that God is violating their "rights" if He practices such sovereign actions.. but the truth is, on the first place, we had no right! No right at all! For if we had, we could have saved ourselves on we could, on our own, have the potential to choose God all the time.Anyways, true bes! What kind of God would we have if He just leaves everything to chance? What kind of God would we have if He man makes the final decision and not Him?anyways, we can write reflections about this. Starting may bes, it'll be our break, so i'll be making reflections on every post to reinforce the truth for our readers. Do you want my relfections here? Anyways, just decide when you see them.. I'll send you my gmail account and password in case you want to have access to my site or you want to "tweek" something..God bless bes!
