Free AudioBook of the Month: “The Pilgrim’s Progress”

Update: I realize that there are some who still visit this post who end up being disappointed since the free download offer is over. Drop a comment below with your email address and express your desire if you still want the Audiobook. I might upload my copy and share it to you personally. [Only until the end of April 2010]

Every month the folks at Christian Audio puts out free Audio books for download. They have previously graciously provided works from John Calvin, Foxe’s Book of Martyrs even John Piper’s “Desiring God”. For the month of March Christian audio is providing the audiobook version of John Bunyan’s classic work “The Pilgrim’s Progress” just until March 31, 2010.

Though I am not a fan of abridged works, this reading by Paul Michael is highly recommended. I am convinced that this book must be read at least once by every Christian. For more than three centuries both Christians and non-Christians, young and old, have been fascinated by the characters and story of John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress: From This World to That Which Is to Come—regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature. As I myself am reading my paperback copy of the book, increasingly am I realizing and coming face to face with the great inadequacies of my Christian profession.

Reader, do your soul a great service and acquire this audiobook. If you prefer you can purchase the paperback here: [link], hardcover: [link], or download the ebook (pdf) here: [link].

The Pilgrim’s Progress

by John Bunyan

Read by Paul Michael

Abridged & retold by James Baldwin

One of the most powerful dramas of Christian faith ever written, this captivating allegory of man’s religious journey in search of salvation follows the pilgrim as he travels an obstacle-filled road to the Celestial City. Along the way, he is confronted by monsters and spiritual terrors, among them Worldly Wiseman, Giant Despair, and the demons of the Valley of the Shadow of Death. An enormously influential seventeenth-century classic, universally known for its simplicity, vigor, and beauty of language.

  1. I was fairly excited abut this Audio Book but unfortunately it is not the one offered at present, much to my regret! I see one from Piper and one from Bonhoeffer.

  2. Piper has a reading of the Pilgrim's Progress too? Give this one a chance though. I liked this better than the one previously done by Hovel Audio.

  3. Actually the code does work, but you have to search for this audio book. It does not show on the "free" page. Thanks for this, JM!

    • Thanks Daniel! So that's what Vincent meant about "one from Piper and one from Bonhoeffer"! I should've visited the link I put on first.

Anyway, I fixed the link. It goes directly to the Pilgrim's Progress page now!
