What Grace is This?!

I apologize for not being able to post anything at all this week. I’ve been quite busy with things going on with work and our local ministry, and since I had my Birthday this past Wednesday, that took me off my writing regiment too at the middle of the week. By God’s grace I was still able to keep a journal and earlier today I wrote this poem for my other blog, Nothing but a Feeble Saint. You can read the rest of it here.

What Grace is This?!
—A Gospel Confession and Proclamation

What grace is this,
given to me one so drowned in deep unholiness.
Marred with deep sinfulness.
God went so deep to save such wretchedness?

What grace is this?
To one such as I, spat on the Father
trampled upon the Son,
almost blaspheming the Spirit,
the Triune God the infinitely Holy One?

What grace is this?
In all my life I have done nothing but this,
I lived for myself, loved nothing but my life
Feeding my ego caring nothing about Jesus Christ!

What grace is this?
To one so depraved like me,
drinking iniquity like water
living in self-righteousness,
such an abomination to God the Creator

—the Creator, of Heaven and Earth
of everything in the Universe
He is of eternal worth.

He is worthy of Praise,
Worthy of Worship,
Worthy of Honor.
Yet in all my life I’ve been nothing but a slave
A slave to my father

the Devil.
The deceiver.
The prince of the power of the air.
Slave of Satan and sin.
Yet in all my bondage and rebellion
You sent Your Son to die, the God of all creation?
