In this post I will be sharing with you the easiest way to acquire sermons, teachings, lectures from Calvinistic and Reformed men, both from those that are still alive and preserved recordings from the saints of old that have passed into glory.
We understand that nothing can replace the faithful preaching and teaching of the local Pastor, but we realize that we should also employ the means of grace God has granted us in the downloadable format as a supplement for growth in our faith and practice.
In my judgment, the easiest way to acquire audio sermons is through Podcasts.
In simple terms “Podcasting” can be compared to having a radio program on the internet. Every time you have a new radio episode, it will correspond to a new “Podcast episode”. The neat thing with Podcasts is that, with the use of programs called “Podcatchers”, we will be able to not just listen on those Podcast episodes live, but we will also be able to download those episodes for future use, for free, even if we missed the live airing.
In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to download Podcasts by using Apple iTunes.
1. Download iTunes here. It is a must that you select “United States” for the country text field because podcasting is not enabled by default in certain countries.
2. After downloading, install iTunes on your system.
3.
In the left panel of iTunes, click on the “iTunes Store” link. This is where we will be searching for the Podcasts we want to download. It is the same place where we will subscribe to those Podcasts as well. “Subscribing” to a Podcast allows us to receive regular automated updates/downloads on the Podcasts we have subscribed to while iTunes is running on the system.
4.
On the upper right of the iTunes Store you will be able to see this search bar. That’s where we will do our search for the podcasts we like. For this example I chose “a.w. pink.” (Because after all, real men like A.W. Pink)
*Here’s a list of the Podcasts I’ve subscribed to for your reference: 1, 2, 3, 4
5.
After searching, iTunes Store will display all the relevant Podcasts to your search query. Here we see relevant Podcasts to “a.w. pink”. You can begin subscribing to the Podcasts displayed by clicking the “subscribe” button. To find out more about that certain Podcast you just have to click the Podcast title, the one in bold type font. To see all the results for our search query “a.w. pink” simply click the “see all” link.
6.
After subscribing to the Podcasts that interest you, look over to the left panel again and click on the “Podcasts” link. There you will see all the Podcasts you are subscribed. By clicking the drop down arrow on the left of the Podcast titles you will be able to see all the available Podcast episodes and you can choose which episodes to download.
7.
If you have a decent amount of free space on your disk, and are too busy to be bothered with downloading individual Podcast episodes at a time, we can setup iTunes in such a way that it will automatically download all the available episodes of our Podcasts while iTunes is open. In the lower left of the window click the “Settings…” button.
8.
Change your settings as seen in the image.
9. There you go, you’re all set! Go subscribe to your favorite preacher, theologian, pastor!
iTunes U
There’s a special section in iTunes called “iTunes U”, or “iTunes University”. It’s basically a section where colleges, universities and academia can set up their own iTunes page for students and/or interested parties.
Two notable institutions that has availed iTunes U are, Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS) and Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS).
They have made available for free a very generous amount of lectures on a wide variety of subjects. So for those who have yet to afford formal Seminary education, these resources is a must have.
1. Go to the iTunes store and search for either “Westminster Theological Seminary” or “Reformed Theological Seminary.”
2.
When searching “Westminster Theological Seminary” you will see the relevant Podcasts for that query. Now for some reason that I do not know they would not display the iTunes U main page of WTS. We’re going to have to click a couple of links to get there. First click any podcast of WTS.
The same is applicable when searching for “Reformed Theological Seminary.”
3.
Here you would see the bread crumbs navigation of WTS. The portion that I have underlined with yellow is the iTunes U main page of WTS, go there and subscribe to any or all of their lectures!
The same is applicable when searching for “Reformed Theological Seminary.”
That’s it. All done! I hope the tutorial was clear and helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask at the comments section below.
Another quick route to the WTS ItunesU page can be found on the front page of the schools website (www.wts.edu). On the right side of the page you will see a blue button that says ItunesU. If you already have Itunes installed on your computer, you can click the button and it will take you straight there.

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:24-25)

Thanks a lot for pointing people to our ItunesU page. Great instructions! I hope that many will be edified by the lectures.
