I Know Whom I Have Believed
I know not why God’s wondrous grace To me He hath made known, Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love Redeemed me for His own. But I know Whom I have believed, And am persuaded that He is able To keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day. I know not how this saving faith To me He did impart, Nor how believing in His Word Wrought peace within my heart. I know not how the Spirit moves, Convincing us of sin, Revealing Jesus through the Word, Creating faith ...

What Grace is This?!
I apologize for not being able to post anything at all this week. I've been quite busy with things going on with work and our local ministry, and since I had my Birthday this past Wednesday, that took me off my writing regiment too at the middle of the week. By God's grace I was still able to keep a journal and earlier today I wrote this poem for my other blog, Nothing but a ...

All That I Was, My Sin, My Guilt, My Death!
Since I missed posting last week's Lord's Day Hymn, here's an extra for this week. An extra, yet by no means any lesser in value, rather, just as Christ exalting as the rest. Let us declare with dear Horatius Bonar as we rest in the perfections of our Lord this day: Thy Word first made me feel my sin, It taught me to believe; Then, in believing, peace I found, And now I live, I live! All That I Was All that ...

O, That I Had a Thousand Voices!
O, That I Had a Thousand Voices O that I had a thousand voices And with a thousand tongues could tell Of Him in Whom the earth rejoices Who all things wisely does and well! My grateful heart would then be free To tell what God has done for me. Ye forest leaves, so green and tender, That dance for joy in summer air; Ye meadow grasses, bright and slender, Ye flowers, so wondrous sweet and fair, That live to show His praise alone, Help me to ...

From a Thousand Sinners, What Made You Differ?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? (1 Corinthians 4:7) To you dear Christian with a callous heart, to you unfeeling person for the state of souls and the eternal destination of those a step from hell, why do you feel so little for those whom God's wrath abides? Why is ...

A Debtor to Mercy Alone!
A Debtor to Mercy Alone A debtor to mercy alone, Of covenant mercy I sing; Nor fear, with thy righteousness on, My person and off'ring to bring. The terrors of law and of God With me can have nothing to do; My Saviour's obedience and blood Hide all my transgressions from view. The work which his goodness began, The arm of his strength will complete; His promise is Yea and Amen, And never was forfeited yet. Things future, nor things that are now, Nor all things below or above, Can ...

The All-Satisfying Supremacy of God Over All Things
Augustine counsels us, "Say with the psalmist: 'One thing I ask of the Lord, this I seek: To dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord and contemplate his temple' (Psalm 27:4)." Then he says, "In order that we may attain this happy life, he who is himself the true Blessed Life has taught us to pray." He shows us the ...

What Grace is This?
For those of you who are connected with me on facebook, you would know, well at least the few of you would know that I've been taking tries on hymnodies and lyrical theology, most of which I've posted on my other site, Nothing but a Feeble Saint. Starting this Lord's day, every Sunday, I will be posting great hymns of the Christian faith, and from time to time hymns that I've written myself. It is my ...

Help us be Sanctified by Your Grace!
We may well expect more from Christians than others because it is a fact in the case of those who are truly Christians that they are more than others. It is not mere talk, it is a fact that the Believer in Christ is born again. He is not only as other men are, made by God, but he has been twice made, newly born, newly created in Christ Jesus. It is no fiction but a ...
