Woe to You Who Preach a Costless Salvation!

It is true that the salvation that Christ provides has no price and that those the Father has given the Son can freely come and purchase the water of life freely without cost (Rev 21:6). But it is a great falsehood to say that the coming to Christ lays no claim upon a man. It is but a lie to proclaim a Gospel that doesn't even scathe the flesh of men! Dear reader, tread with me ...

Don’t Say Serving is Loving if No Gospel is Preached

A silent servant-hood that never speaks the Gospel contradicts love. There's a lot of that in the world today. Silent serving as though that were love leaving people without the articulation of the Gospel which is the power of God unto their salvation---It's not love. It looks loving. The world certainly wants us to do it that way. But that's not the Biblical way. It's not God's way. It's not Christ's way. We have mouths! And mouths are ...

Satisfied with Heaven even if Christ Were Not There

The critical question for our generation—and for every generation—is this: If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ were not ...

I Am Ashamed of My Stupidity!

Were there but such clear and deep impressions upon our own souls of those glorious things which we daily preach, oh what a change would it make in our sermons, and in our private course of life! Oh what a miserable thing it is to the Church and to themselves, that men must preach of heaven and hell, before they soundly believe that there are such things, or have felt the weight of the doctrines which ...

What Will You Tell Me If I Had a Brain Tumor?

Just a while ago, as I was browsing around my Facebook page, I saw Susan Yesner and Doug Eaton post the same video from YouTube. A video with the title: "Shocking Message to Pastors & Churches." I watched it and re-posted it as soon as I was done. In an understatement I would say that it is not only shocking but very, very much sobering as well. Below are my comments on the video, and my ...

Declaring War on the “Sinner’s Prayer”

I'm sick and tired of this "Sinner's Prayer." Just because it's most convenient to use it...because most preachers fail to understand how painstaking salvation and genuine conversion really is, they relegate the Gospel call into "CHOOSING/DECIDING GOD." Blasphemy. Should we not go to strenuous efforts for the salvation of men souls? Why deceive them that they have (instant) assurance of salvation? No warnings? No telling them of reality that if there is no change of heart, change of mind, ...

Is This All Thy Compassion for Lost Sinners?

Lately, I've been struggling to finish a couple of books. Tim Challies' The Guide to Spiritual Discernment, Richard Sibbes' The Bruised Reed and John Owen's Mortification of Sin. A series of circumstances led me to put down those three books for a while and take up a new one, Richard Baxter's The Reformed Pastor. I was determined that before I get serious, and to make sure if God is really calling me for the great responsibility ...

Disrespectful, Unloving and Hateful Evangelism

We as Christians, having received the truth of God's Word, the message of the Gospel of the Lord Christ Jesus that truly saves, cannot help but preach and share such good news to others. Such good news that we have received that brought us from spiritual death to spiritual life, as we are bid and commanded by Scripture itself to preach the Gospel, it pains me to say that even in our passion and our ...

Deathbed Comfort with the (Emerging) Church

This video just blew me away. There's really not that much to say since it addresses the very problem of the Church, uncertainty. Very few will you find, Christians who firmly know what they believe, and when presented with a situation as this, a dying man who killed a person who is looking for answers, will be able to provide the truth of God's Word. How many of us can look at such a man ...
